What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clerk Medical Records position at Geisinger?
- Answers department telephone and routes calls correctly, depending on location.
- Prepares medical records for scanning and scans into appropriate database.
- Performs Quality Control on scanned records.
- Performs Indexing and Validation of scanned documents to ensure documentation is scanned to the correct document name.
- Verifies all scanned records are viewable in the proper encounter within electronic health records.
- Updates chart tracking system for non-electronic historical medical records being signed out of the department.
- Retrieves/refiles paper records and microfilm upon request, if stored on site.
- Maintains historical paper records.
- Preps and scans historical paper records.
- Collects paper portion of medical record.
- Prepares department related DIMS cover sheets for patient level scanning pertinent to inpatient encounters and sends paper medical record documents to Corporate Imaging for processing.
Work is typically performed in an office environment. Constant standing, walking, pushing, bending and lifting up to 25 pounds are involved in job duties.
