What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tasting Room Manager position at gpac?
Candidates must be professional, articulate, hard-working, strong leaders who can handle multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will assume responsibility for and oversee day-to-day floor operations in the Tasting Room, as well as, execute Wine Club and e-commerce strategy and sales. The position requires an outgoing, well organized, self-motivated and disciplined individual who is focused on the customer's experience. During the busy season this position will be in charge of 15-20 employees. They are one of the busiest tasting rooms in the California & host a bunch of theme based events. This position will also be responsible for calling on grocery stores & other retailers.
Position Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of our Tasting Room which includes tastings, visitor relations, tours, staff performance, wine clubs and internet sales
- Hire, train, schedule and supervise Tasting Room Educators
- Inventory management of wine, retail merchandise and tasting room supplies
- Partner with wine educators, winemakers and production staff to ensure the Tasting Room staff receives the appropriate level of sales, product and general wine education and training
- Coordinate hospitality events, such as consumer tastings, VIP tastings, and wine club events
- Handle routine purchasing transactions, including operating cash registers, and accounting for daily sales. Ensure that cash accounting is correct and complete at the end of the business day
- Generate and maintain performance metrics to monitor direct sales results
- Oversee shipping to customers and wine club members
- Draft newsletters, maintains social media presence, and help plan themed events.
Qualifications:
- Minimum three years successful management experience, ideally wine retail/hospitality related
- Passion for wine and customer service with strong wine knowledge
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficient in the Microsoft Suite, Quickbooks and POS, and/or ability to learn Vin65 a plus
- Must be able to lift 36 lbs
