Cook

Clement Manor is a faith-based independent living, assisted living, CBRF and long term care community, nationally recognized for providing a superior quality environment for older adults. Currently we are looking for a Full-Time Cook. 

Job Purpose:

Prepare, season, and cook soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, or other foodstuffs in restaurants. May order supplies, keep records and accounts, price items on menu, or plan menu.

Essential Duties and/or Responsibilities:

• Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices.
• Turn or stir foods to ensure even cooking.
• Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience.
• Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils.
• Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Portion, arrange, and garnish food, and serve food to waiters or patrons.
• Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
• Substitute for or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods.
• Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
• Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption.
• Estimate expected food consumption, requisition or purchase supplies, or procure food from storage.
• Carve and trim meats such as beef, veal, ham, pork, and lamb for hot or cold service, or for sandwiches.
• Coordinate and supervise work of kitchen staff.
• Consult with supervisory staff to plan menus, taking into consideration factors such as costs and special event needs. 

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Food Production - Knowledge of techniques and equipment for planting, growing, and harvesting food products (both plant and animal) for consumption, including storage/handling techniques.
• Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

This position requires every other weekend and every other holiday. Training will be provided.  Satisfactory background check and drug test are required.  All Clement Manor employees are required to get a flu shot on an annual basis (provided by Clement Manor) for the safety of our residents.
