What are the responsibilities and job description for the EMT position at Hampden Township?
Serves as an EMT on an assigned shift.
The Emergency Medical Technician is responsible for providing emergency medical care to the public.
Able to perform the tasks of an EMT including lifting patients onto a stretcher and into an ambulance with, or without, assistance from another EMT or qualified representative of the Township.
Thorough knowledge of the modern skills involved in providing emergency medical care and use of necessary equipment.
Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergencies and to communicate with the public effectively in stressful situations.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both verbal and written form, including the art of public speaking.
Assures maintenance of ambulance vehicles by reporting needed repairs to the proper official and assuring that those repairs are completed. This is to be supplemented by maintaining daily inspection logs on the condition of all equipment.
Assists in maintaining a clean working area and equipment.
Prepares reports or records as may be required by the EMS Director.
Assists in the promotion and implementation of safety-oriented programs for the community.
