SALES ASSISTANT MANAGER
The Sales Assistant Manager ensures the quality of service and positive patient experiences in the Sales Department, provides exceptional service in all interactions with the goal of creating efficiency and customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Hire and train sales associates, monitor inventory, support management, operations, and staff of the Sales Department
- Supervise the activities of the Sales Department
- Oversee and work closely with the Sales and Inventory departments to fulfill customer product request.
- Ensure compliance in every transaction. Adapt and innovate as the California cannabis market changes.
- Demonstrate leadership and compassionate management
- Provide exceptional service and product knowledge
- Verify the accurate exchange of register drawers and ensure opening and closing procedures are accurately performed
- Appropriately authorize discounts and other changes in sales receipts
- Ensure company policies and procedures are being observed by associates in the department
- Supervise, coach, and communicate with associates to meet and exceed performance expectations
- Partner with the department manager to provide recognition and discipline where appropriate
- Maintain strict confidentiality with customer information
- Understand and maintain sales expectations, growth expectations, and margin expectations
- Manage the inventory location department.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of cannabis strains and applications, effects, and routes of delivery
- Demonstrated passion to serve the cannabis community
- Proven ability to manage teams effectively
- Outstanding customer relations skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Understanding of basic accounting principles and able to interpret financial data
- Intermediate math skills
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Word, with advanced knowledge in Excel
- Ability to quickly learn new computer software and POS system

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Requires prolonged standing and requires some bending, stooping, and reaching
- Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a cash register, computer, credit card machine, and other office equipment
- Lifting up to 30 pounds
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is generally performed in fast pace cannabis dispensary
- Frequent contact with others via email, face-to-face discussions, and telephone
- May require working an alternative workweek

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
- High school diploma or GED
- Prior retail or customer service experience (1-3 years)
- Prior management/supervisory experience (1-3 years)
- Prior research and study of cannabis and/or completion of cannabis industry-related educational programs
- Experience in the health industry highly desirable
- Experience working in the cannabis industry highly desirable
- Must be 21 years old and pass a criminal background check
