POSITION SUMMARY:
HIAS seeks a Data Architect who will be responsible for designing data infrastructure to extract and organize data for authorized individuals to access. Equally, the Data Architect will design and implement a data lake or warehouse type solution or platform where various systems can exchange data. Duties include, but are not limited to, identifying the organizations internal and external data sources, collaborating with department heads to determine their data storage and organizational needs, and using the information to create and maintain data infrastructure for company employees. This individual will work closely with departments to update database storage, troubleshoot technical issues and create visual layouts to display data. Their job is to create code libraries and instructional materials for other data professionals to update data systems.
Note, this position is based at our headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland or our office in New York, New York, and we will consider a remote option for applicants who live outside of commuting distance to either of our offices and are based in other states in which we are registered (Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Identifies installation solutions for new databases and/or data sources.

Determines the requirements for a new database.

Publishes and/or presents design reports.

Identifies areas for improvement in current systems.

Coordinates with other team members to reach project milestones and deadlines.

Audits database regularly to maintain quality.

Creates systems to keep data secure.

Designs and implements effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve company data.

Examines and identifies database structural necessities by evaluating client operations, applications and programming.

Assesses database implementation procedures to ensure they comply with internal and external regulations.

Installs and organizes information systems to guarantee company functionality.

Prepares accurate database design and architecture reports for management and executive teams.

Oversees the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions.

Monitors the system performance by performing regular tests, troubleshooting and integrating new features.

Recommends solutions to improve new and existing database systems.

Educates staff members through training and individual support.

Offers support by responding to system problems in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Undergraduate degree in Information Technology or related field of study, or equivalent relevant work experience.

4-6 years of related experience.

Advanced knowledge of latest versions of Microsoft data solutions and tools.

Microsoft PowerBI experience or related tool (Tableau) is required.

The ability to analyze and present statistical information.

Mastery of specific types of databases, such as relational or foundational databases.

Experience with database management software.

Ability to explain complicated concepts in simple terms.
