Job Details:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Contract Cost Accountant to join our team. This position will play a key role in our finance department, with responsibilities including cost accounting, financial analysis, and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment, as well as experience with Sage software. This is a contract position with the potential for permanent placement. This role is critical in providing accurate and timely financial information to the management team to make informed decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain cost accounting system, documentation, and records.
• Prepare and analyze cost reports and costing audits.
• Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
• Review and audit manufacturing costs and variances, and the raw material inventory and finished goods annually.
• Coordinate with IT department for system issues, maintenance, and development.
• Conduct physical inventories and monitor the cycle count program.
• Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies.
• Work with the production team to understand and manage costs in real-time.
• Prepare, analyze and report weekly, monthly, quarterly gross margin analysis.
• Assist in Month end close of the General Ledger.
• Conduct research and perform analytical studies in regard to cost analyses and profitability.
• Support and assist internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules and others.
• Ensure timely submission, accuracy and validity of inventory, gross margin schedules to management.
• Work in special projects as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Minimum of 3 years of Cost Accounting in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the dairy or CPG industry.
• Must have a strong Cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills.
• Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards.
• Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
• Proficient in Sage software.
• Strong Excel skills and the ability to use Outlook and Word.
• Experience with MAPICS a plus.
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
• Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives.
• Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.
