Production Chemist – Pearland, TX
Kelly Science is currently recruiting for several Production Chemists with chemical company located in Pearland, TX 77581. This role may work in one of three laboratories- analytical, cylinder blending and/or liquids blending. Cross training is encouraged within the company.
In the analytical laboratory, the position is primarily responsible for analyzing COMPANY produced calibration standards using GC (FID, TCD, SCD), GC-MS, physical testing, Ultraviolet Fluorescence (UVF), and other instruments in the analytical laboratory and will carry out analysis of feedstock, intermediates, and finished products manufactured in the production laboratories, PTP samples, and customer samples, along with associated quality checks on laboratory instrumentation.
In the cylinder blending and liquids blending laboratories, the position is primarily responsible to produce sustainable, compliant, quality products utilizing established protocols and procedures to prepare calibration and verification reference materials. This position will also be responsible for operating and maintaining equipment used for manufacturing. There are no supervisory responsibilities with this position.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Production Chemist is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Participates in all safety and occupational training program activities to include, but not limited to classes, tests, and hands-on experiences under appropriate supervision, as required by COMPANY Senior Management.
- Work in compliance with all ISO policies and procedures (ISO 17025,17034 and 17043 Accreditations).
- Understand and comply with established guidelines that ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- Safely handles chemicals, supplies and instrumentation as prescribed by Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and COMPANY safety protocols.
- Initiate and participate in non-conformance reports (NCR) investigations.
- Informs supervisors of unsafe work conditions or practices and corrects unsafe work conditions where possible.
- Maintains a safe work area and environment, including correctly using PPE.
- Takes responsibility for the upkeep and safety of the facility.
- Reads and understands correspondence and procedures; follows oral and written instructions.
- Maintains confidentiality of information and deals with the public and employees tactfully.
- Provides feedback to the Production Manager regarding customer concern risks
Additionally, in the analytical laboratory the production chemist:
- Calibrates and verifies all analytical instruments used for testing.
- Performs analytical tests of raw material, in-process material and finished product; notifies supervisor in the event product is out of specification (OOS).
- Ensures that all analyses are performed according to DCG, GPA, ISO, ASTM, UOP, and IP etc.
- Oversees check and pressure check of all products prior to them leaving the analytical laboratory.
- Informs supervisor of equipment that is not performing.
Additionally, in the liquid and cylinders production laboratory, the chemist:
- Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical laboratory situations.
- Comprehend ideal gas law and principles of Organic Chemistry used daily in the blending process.
- Follows established protocols and standard operating procedures in the preparation of reference materials.
- Ensures balances and masses are current on certification and verification.
- Ensures laboratory equipment remains in good working condition and informs supervisor of equipment that is not performing according to COMPANY protocol.
Job Qualifications:
- For entry level, Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from an accredited four-year college or university; 0-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At times, various experiences and expertise are needed for specific needs, and will be defined accordingly.
- M-F: 8am-5pm
