Essential Job Functions
- Know and properly use all personal safety laboratory equipment (goggles, respirators, gloves, clothing, etc.)
- Know and properly use all laboratory safety equipment (hoods, fire extinguishers, showers, eyewash fountains, etc.)
- Know and follow all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) regulations.
- Handle all chemicals properly.
- Handle glassware, laboratory hardware and equipment properly.
- Be knowledgeable of and comply with all Federal, State, local, and chemical and hazardous waste disposal procedures.
- Maintain a clean and safe laboratory working environment.
- Clean store glassware properly.
- Inventory and order chemicals and supplies.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration on laboratory equipment.
- Perform routine calculations in basic mathematics and algebra.
- Know the technique of dimensional analysis; be able to convert metric to English units and English to metric.
- Calculate and express chemical concentrations (percentage by weight, percentage by volume, parts per million, etc.)
- Perform mass measurements using all types of balances.
- Perform volume measurements using volumetric equipment.
- Assemble laboratory glassware equipment (distillation, extractions, reflux, etc.) properly.
- Use compressed gas cylinders, regulators, fittings, etc., correctly.
- Operate general laboratory equipment (balances, pH meters, vacuum pumps, etc.) properly.
- Operate analytical instrumentation (spectrophotometers, gas chromatographs, etc.) properly.
- Follow and understand technical instructions and procedures.
- Know chemical terminology.
- Prepare and standardize solutions.
- Demonstrate computer skills.
- Be familiar with different computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Word, Excel).
- Entry, store, and retrieve computer data.
- Callouts is a requirement of the job.
- Be able to communicate with different levels of management, production Engineers, operators, purchasing personnel, product warehouse personnel, maintenance personnel, and other laboratory technicians.
- Maintain a laboratory notebook properly.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma and/or bachelor’s degree is preferred, or an equivalent degree or a high school diploma with 2 years as a Lab Analyst in a chemical manufacturing facility.
- The ability to react with urgency to achieve objectives and deadlines despite obstacles and time pressures.
- Safety Driven Individual, with excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work cross-functionally with other departments.
- Proficient with computers and software; SAP, MS Office, Excel, etc.
- Logistics skills in planning, organizing and record keeping
