Position Summary:
Assists in the defense of LAMICO and its insureds in medical malpractice litigation and provides other support legal services to LAMMICO and its insureds as needed. Provide litigation support and assistance to Trial Attorneys and Legal Assistants concerning legal and medical aspects of malpractice claims. Performs legal and medical research and drafts pleadings as needed. In collaboration with Trial Attorneys and Legal Assistants, prepares Medical Review Panel submissions. As needed by Trial Attorneys, provides support and assistance with Trial.
Qualifications
Required:
- J.D. Degree from an ABA accredited law school
- Currently admitted to practice law in the State of Louisiana
- Possesses knowledge regarding medical malpractice litigation
- Minimum of five years of experience in legal profession
- Experience with performing medical and legal research
- Possesses and maintains excellent writing skills
- Strong customer focus and team orientation
- Ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive company, insured, and patient information
- Commitment to maintaining productive relationships with co-workers, clients, and other members of legal and medical professions for the benefit of LAMMICO and its insureds
- Excellent communications skills with the ability to interact and work effectively with employees at all levels within and outside of the organization
- Ability to manage time, set priorities, and work independently and in cooperation with others when appropriate; ability to organize, analyze, and interpret information
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and Outlook
