The work planner is part of our Project Management team working closely with our Operations and Engineering departments focusing on project coordination and workload balancing of the Company's Overhead, Substation and Meter Department resources. The work planner is primarily responsible for collaborating with Operations Supervisors to provide resource allocation plans on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. This position monitors the day-to-day workflow and, in collaboration with the Operations Supervisors, makes crew assignment changes to ensure customer appointments and project schedules are met.
- Responsible for developing work order packages, creating plans and bills of materials for the electrical distribution system, including new service applications, line extensions, and infrastructure projects.
- Supports the close out process of work orders by ensuring all project documentation is complete, accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
- Assists with the rescheduling process related to emergency work encountered during ongoing scheduled work to efficiently allocate the most effective resource.Plan for the rescheduling of postponed work.
- Work with Operations Supervision to develop daily, weekly, monthly resource allocation work plans to meet project and customer need dates. Assign crews utilizing SAP Click
- Monitor material estimates for upcoming projects and work with warehouse/procurement to ensure material is available to mitigate risk of project delay
- Assist with the securing of permits and licenses with System Infrastructure Improvement driven projects, and municipal/governmental requirements to complete designs and undertake the project.
- Monitor construction for adherence to design, scope, and budget. Conducts analysis and reporting/metrics to asset with budget tracking, financial forecasting, project evaluation and monitoring of key project performance indicators for leadership
- Provide completed job documentation to Operations Analyst in order to complete financial analysis of project to ensure accuracy of charges
- Utilize GIS system and update with new / removed assets
- Engineering Degree or Technical Degree preferred.
- Knowledge of electric utility construction practices preferred
- Strong proven problem solving, and analytic ability required, good time management and organizational skills.
- Sound project management and/ planning capabilities
- Skilled in computer applications with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) and the current Work Order Management System
- Responsible for work outside of normal work schedule for storm assignments when necessary
- Valid driver's license required.
