Job Description

Position Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Lean & Six Sigma Lead. This person will serve on the Manufacturing Support team working closely with shop floor personnel and interfacing with Technical Support and Quality. Furthermore, the candidate must be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and be hands-on when called for by the situation. This person will serve a key role in building personnel capabilities in problem solving and Lean Six Sigma capabilities. The position requires enthusiasm for collaboration, building rapport with personnel across all levels of the organization, giving personnel a voice, making problems visible/actionable and implementing/facilitating continuous improvements that sometimes challenge the status quo. Off-shift or weekend coverage may be required occasionally, based on project-specific assignments.
Primary Responsibilities and Activities include but are not limited to the following:
Serve as the Lean & Six Sigma Lead for the site and partner with our Company's Productive System Team to deploy and improve the site’s MPS capabilities.
Collaborate with the leadership team to understand the Durham and Teknika site strategy to prioritize improvements and develop a multi-year road map to achieve site goals.
Make problems visible by working with teams to develop/improve their Tier and escalation process.
Facilitate and support formal problem solving alongside site personnel. The successful candidate should be able to examine an issue from diverse perspectives (safety, compliance, automation, equipment, process, and people) to best understand and resolve it at the root cause.
Facilitate quarterly and annual Hoshin Kanri activities for the site to ensure alignment across the organization and define/evaluate KPIs for the site.
Facilitate Strategic Tier meetings for the leadership team and manage the site project portfolio.
Education Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in an Engineering or Science related field with minimum 5 years post-bachelors degree experience in pharma, biotech or vaccines work environment.
OR 3 years of the described experienced plus a Master’s degree in an Engineering or Science related field.
Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience with Lean Six Sigma Methodology (ie 5S, 8S Problem Solving, DMAIC, Visual Management, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen…)
Preferred Qualifications:
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification
Experience in pharma, biotech or vaccines work environment
Experience with aseptic processing operations such as cell culture, filling, and/or lyophilization.
Experience in project management and execution.
Strong facilitation, consultative, influencing and communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, paper based and less automated environment
Ability to work on the production floor
Ability to build rapport with personnel across the organization, at all levels of an organization
Affinity for continuous improvement
