Director, Human Resources
Basic Function
The Director of Human Resources directs MRIGlobal’s human resource functions and assists the Vice President and General Counsel and senior management in formulating and administering related organization policies. Manages the development, implementation, maintenance, and overall administration of MRIGlobal’s human resources plans, programs, systems, and policies and procedures to enhance MRIGlobal’s ability to recruit, train, motivate, and retain qualified employees. Has direct management responsibility for MRIGlobal’s Human Resources staff and serves as a member of management committees. Provides input to MRIGlobal’s administrative operating plan and established activities that ensure achievement of corporate objectives. This includes financial goals and support of continued growth consistent with MRIGlobal’s strategic plan.
Nature and Scope
This position reports to the Vice President and General Counsel of MRIGlobal. Advises management on HR issues and serves as in-house consultant for executives and staff on all HR related matters. Core Human Resource functions include HR strategy, recruiting, staff training and professional development, affirmative action and diversity initiatives, HR policies and compliance programs, compensation and benefits administration, employee relations, personnel recordkeeping and management of the Human Resources Information Systems. The incumbent must be knowledgeable about legal requirements of human resources, ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and maintain familiarity with current practices in the profession to work effectively in the job. The position has a high degree of autonomy for operating decisions and requires both human resource knowledge and managerial skills. Promotes collaboration across MRIGlobal’s division and department lines to strengthen interdisciplinary capabilities.
Essential Functions
Advises management on HR issues and serves as in-house consultant for executives and staff on HR related matters; oversees all employee relations matters and suggests appropriate action to correct such problems. Oversees employee relations investigations in collaboration with Legal
Promotes the role of the HR Department by ensuring that HR staff members establish and maintain active contact with employees throughout the organization to enhance the morale, commitment and productivity of staff members and ensure fair and equitable treatment for employees
Identifies and establishes recruitment strategies and metrics and regularly communicates to Senior Management needs and observations pertaining to the market with respect to benefits, training and compensation to ensure MRIGlobal competitive advantage
Oversees recruitment efforts for all exempt/nonexempt personnel and temporary employees. Assists in recruiting, interviewing, placement of positions, transfers and promotions. Oversees the facilitation of new-employee orientations, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing
Manages the development and implementation of MRIGlobal’s Affirmative Action Program, as MRIGlobal’s EEO Officer. Manages the audit and compliance activities of the department, and keeps abreast of any employment related legal issues affecting the Institute. Ensures that salary administration practices, HR and operating policies and procedures, and staff communications are in compliance with regulatory agencies and compliance programs
Manages the annual salary and performance review process, recommends changes to ensure MRIGlobal’s competitive position in the marketplace. Conducts and participates in salary surveys to price jobs in local and national labor markets and assists in determining competitive wage rate trends. Assists in the evaluation of alternative methods of compensation and the design of compensation packages for various functional areas and levels of management
Conducts the analysis and evaluation of exempt and nonexempt positions to ensure consistent and equitable establishment in job value. Facilitates the written inventory of MRIGlobal position descriptions and ensures that all related job descriptions files are maintained
Oversees the administration and maintenance of MRIGlobal’s HRIS, Learning Management, Career Recruitment Module and MarketPay Online Market Pricing System
Collaborates with the Training Development Manager in identifying the needs and objectives in such areas as staff training and professional development
Oversees the benefits administration function
Supports MRIGlobal off-site offices by providing advice and guidance on recruitment, compensation employee relations, policy matters and other HR activities
Establishes and maintains department records and reports; recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed. Conducts periodic audits of human resources activities to ensure compliance with applicable statues, regulations, policies and procedures
Supervisory/Management Responsibility
Provides leadership, guidance, support and training necessary for the success of the Human Resources Department. Conducts supervisory responsibilities in accordance with MRIGlobal’s policies and applicable laws.
Success Factors
Minimum 15 years of proven experience in a human resource generalist position including human resources leadership
Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written), organizational, presentation and time management skills

Demonstrated knowledge and success in conflict resolution and team building
Sensitivity to confidential information

Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products, HRIS applications and analytics tools and ability to learn new software/systems
Ability to travel as required by business needs, often on short notice
Knowledge of legal/cultural trends that might impact MRIGlobal business planning and operations
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration with at least five years directly related experience; or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or other related field with minimum eight years directly related experience; or High School diploma with minimum of fifteen years directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in an HR office environment.
