What are the responsibilities and job description for the MIG/TIG Welder position at MTI?
MTI (Medical Technology Industries) is looking for a skilled and reliable welder to support the development and manufacturing of our high-quality medical specialty chairs and other medical-related products. You will have a can-do attitude and demonstrate a self-motivated demeanor working well on your own and as a member of a collaborative team. Your contributions are critically important in the creation of high-end, high-quality, and safe medical chairs for specialists and their patients. Attention to detail, welding to spec, dependability, and integrity are key in performing quality MIG and TIG welding.
Schedule
- Full-time 40-hours per week.
- Monday - Thursday, 6:00am - 4:30pm (4 day work week with possible OT)
Responsibilities
- Ability to execute basic welding techniques including MIG and TIG welds - welding stainless steel and aluminum.
- Execute mostly stitch welding for short welds (longest 2 inches) and use jigs effectively.
- Fabricate new metal components in accordance with product data sheets and in compliance with all applicable standards of safety and performance.
- Repair metal components in order to restore full functionality and safety performance.
- Maintain tools and equipment to a professional standard. Keep work station clean and orderly to retain a safe and operational work environment.
- Coordinate workflow with other members of the team.
- Examine work pieces for defects, and be able to use a tape measure effectively.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to read and follow a product data sheet, specs sheet, and other product informational material.
- Familiarity with welding equipment and workshop safety protocols.
- Ability to move large and small metal plates.
Qualifications
- Welding Certificate or Degree
- Welding Technician Advanced Certificate preferred
- 1-3 Years welding experience including experience with stainless steel and aluminum
- Ability to successfully complete a welding test
Work Environment
- Indoors, clean environment!
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE)—safety shoes, glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
- Frequently lift, push, and pull objects weighing 50 pounds (infrequently up to approximately 80 pounds)—generally shifting and lifting weight from one surface to another.
- Work with deadlines.
- Warehouse environment:
- Medium to loud noise levels.
- Occasionally around or near moving parts or machinery.
