What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Scientist, Associate position at NCIRE?

Position Definition:

The position involves research studies related to exosome research and cognitive function. Provides scientific knowledge and experience to the project using statistical analyses.  Works independently in consultation with the Principal Investigator (PI) and other senior laboratory personnel.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to analyze complex data sets with statistical analyses
  • Apply machine learning when appropriate
  • Present data in a form for publication or grants
  • Assist with duties in compliance with safety regulations; maintains working knowledge of the hazardous substances used in the laboratory, antidotes, and safe handling methods; ensures proper disposal of contaminated substances.
  • Assumes related responsibilities as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Sufficient education, training and/or work experience to demonstrate possession of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities, which would typically be acquired through:

  • Experience in the management of a program relevant to the assignment.
  • PhD in molecular/ cell biology with experience and knowledge required for research project.

Job Requirements:

  • 8 years of relevant experience required
  • Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations.
  • Knowledge of pertinent laws, regulations, policies and precedents which affect the use of program and related support resources in the area studied.
  • Knowledge of the major issues, program goals and objectives, work processes, and administrative operations of the organization.
  • Skill in conducting detailed analyses of complex functions and work processes.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of data processing.
  • Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information, in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
  • Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include sitting for extended periods of time and operating assigned computer equipment.

 

Working Conditions/Environment:

The work environment for this position is in a medical basic research laboratory. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, temperature variations, etc. Work with laboratory animals and biological specimens are required. The incumbent may sustain posture in standing or seated position and may utilize a computer terminal for prolonged periods of time.

 

The base range for this position is $49.71 - $62.75 per hour. The base hourly actually offered to a successful candidate will take into account various relevant and non-discriminatory business factors including, without limitation, the candidate’s geographic location, job-related experience, knowledge, and skills, and education, as well as internal equity considerations. A successful candidate may also be eligible to earn additional compensation including bonuses.
