What are the responsibilities and job description for the LPN-MED PASS-IV-PPN position at Premier Health?
The clinical support staff is responsible for general clinical and procedural patient care under the direction and direct supervision of the center’s physicians or practice manager.
Nature and Scope
The clinical support staff works under the direct supervision of the physician and/or provider. A patient base of 1,000 to 3,000 patients is served and 20-50 patients are seen each day; resulting referrals, correspondence, reports, and phone calls are handled.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
May include some or all of the following:
1. In coordination with providers and other staff, ensures smooth, efficient patient flow.
2. Interviews patients to obtain an appropriate history and current medical information for the patients’ record. Obtains check-in information including chief complaint, current
medications list, vital signs, etc.
3. Furnishes the patient with appropriate information on health-related issues, as directed by the provider.
4. Documents all patient encounters using appropriate medical terminology.
5. Meets state and nation regulatory compliance issues. Provides a safe environment for patients and others.
6. Participates in quality initiatives and implements as necessary.
7. As directed by the provider, independently performs procedures which may include
venipuncture, administration of injections, pulmonary function tests, ear irrigations, ultra sound therapy, muscle stimulation, hot/cold packs, EKGs, breathing treatments, x-rays, lab testing, holtor monitoring, dressing changes, wound cleaning, hearing and vision tests, rooming patients, vital collection, etc.
8. Properly sets up and assists provider(s) with surgical and medical procedures, e.g. flex sigs, colposcopy, minor wound repair, foreign body removals, etc.
9. Maintains a basic understanding of commonly dispensed pharmaceuticals, their indications, dosages, adverse reactions, and administration techniques. As directed by the provider, calls in prescriptions to the pharmacy. Manages the pharmacy line.
10. Properly inventories and orders routine medical and medically-related supplies and services.
11. Upon provider order, advises patients of testing and referral results and ensures that appropriate follow-up call is provided.
12. Responds to incoming and outgoing correspondence. Assures that appropriate signed releases are acquired and office records and forms are distributed and forwarded to appropriate parties.
13. Handles telephone management according to accepted standards of care under direct supervision of the physician and/or consultation of the RN.
14. Implements the behavioral standards for PHN/PHS, including Customer Service and Teamwork Standards.

1. Technical diploma or certificate from a NLNAC Licensed Practical Nursing program is required.
2. Current State of Ohio LPN licensure required (applicant has maintained his/her CNE requirements).
3. Board certified to administer medications and to perform limited IV Therapy procedures (Med-IV) is required.
4. CPR certification is required.
5. Extensive familiarity with medical terminology, ICD-9 and CPT coding is preferred.
6. Working knowledge of Computers required; familiarity with EPIC Electronic Medical Records is strongly preferred.
7. Thorough understanding of HIPAA law is required.
8. Prior experience in ambulatory health care facility preferred.
9. Qualified applicants demonstrate initiative, excellent organizational and communication skills, and work well in teams.
10. Must be self-motivated to achieve the highest patient care and customer service standards at all times.
