Job Description
Title: Power BI Developer
location: Telework/Remote
Note: On call rotation and evening/weekend work may be required.
Location: Role may be remote, however preference will be given to candidates in The Woodlands, TX, New Orleans, LA, or Little Rock, AR, as this is where the client sites are.
duration: 8 months/possible extension
An opening for a Power BI Developer who is highly motivated, responsible, and detailed oriented to develop and support business needs. The successful candidate will be part of a team supporting a long-term program for an Investor-Owned Utility client. The position requires working directly with client customers to provide world-class application support for multiple utility company applications.
Responsibilities:
Manage Power BI configuration and support including:
Design, build and deploy BI solutions (e.g. reporting tools)
Ability to interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques, and provide ongoing reports, visualizations, and dashboards, including trend identification and analysis.
Power BI data model development
Collaborate cross-functionally and iteratively to deliver new and improve existing Power BI measures, and visualizations.
Responsible for deploying industry best practices in Power BI developments and keeping up with the evolution of the tool and any other Power tools within the Microsoft Power Suite.
Set the standards and best practices for Power BI use.
Create and work with existing datasets needed to optimize data retrieval and presentation for report generation.
Connect data sources, importing data, and transforming data for business intelligence.
Respond to ad-hoc requests for creation of reports of operational and business data.
Contribute and develop insights into leveraging the data we collect to both improve our operational performance and our customer experience.
Provide operational support for our data warehouse and operational reporting tools.
Responsible for design methodology and project documentation.
Maintain a culture of high-quality output and exceptional customer service: anticipate stakeholder needs and proactively develop recommendations and solutions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar degree or 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in BI administrative roles.
3 years’ experience in Power BI support and development work.
Preferred experience with Oracle 11.x/12.x and MS SQL 2012 database management as it relates to the reporting systems.
Experience with Windows 2012 Server management/configuration.
Experience with ServiceNOW (SNOW) is a plus.
Must have experience in analyzing, developing, testing, and deploying software solutions.
Strong communication (written and oral), documentation skills and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast, paced environment and perform duties without direct supervision.
Possess the ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with others.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks to ensure project deadlines are met.
Proficiency with all or some of the following: MS Office Suite including Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio.
Salary : $55 - $60
