POSITION: CUSTODIAN
DIRECT REPORT: Director of Custodial Services
DAILY WORK AREA: Any Buildings Assigned
Minimum Education:
1. High School Diploma/GED (preferred)
Experience and Training:
1. General housekeeping experience
Training Time:
1. 90 days to learn details of job
2. Six months to perform all job related duties
Overview:
This position must be accountable to the Director of Custodial Services for maintaining a clean and healthy environment by keeping it sanitary and orderly using the methods specified in the training manual.
Physical Requirements:
This position demands good physical and mental aptitude. The custodian will be required to lift, carry, walk, sit, push, and pull. He/she must be able to move continuously during work hours, including the use of stairs, and must be able to lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds. Also, must be able to work within dusty conditions.
Duties and Other Job Related Activities:
1. Operate and maintain various machines such as vacuums, floor machines, buffers, etc.
2. Keep bathrooms stocked and cleaned daily. Clean/sanitize wash basins, mirrors, toilets, showers, etc.
3. Keep all areas of building clean, organized, and promote a healthy environment to include but not limited to washing, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping.
4. Empty trash containers and taking contents to centralized waste areas for permanent removal.
5. Clean A/C filters weekly or as needed.
6. Fill out work requests for any needed repairs to be turned in, e.g. leaky faucets, stopped up toilets, or out of order washers/dryers, etc.
7. Work with various chemicals and follow all instructions for proper and safe use of chemicals. Chemical safety and use of chemicals will be included in the housekeeper's on-board training.
8. Use safety precautions in all housekeeping services.
9. Perform additional work as deemed necessary by management.
10. Be willing to work as a team player maintaining a friendly disposition at all times.
