Community Food Bank of New Jersey is the state’s largest food bank. We provide food for 15 out of 21 New Jersey counties. As a Logistics Manager your role will be to direct and administer all daily warehouse management functions as well as the operational strategies required to ensure the timely delivery and pick-ups of products to clients in the most cost effective manner. Ensures that all drivers adhere to policies, procedures and DOT regulations. Provides leadership with other operations managers and supervisors on warehouse, facility and distribution planning. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Observes all safety practices and evaluates workplace environments, to ensure compliance with work and food safety standards and regulations.
· Maintain and support fulfillment under our delivery program of over 400 partner sites
· Coordinates transportation schedules.
· Adjusts orders and develops sequence of deliveries.
· Responsible for routing of daily pick-ups and deliveries using the Roadnet Transportation Suite, or similar routing system.
· Checks to ensure daily deliveries & pick-up schedules.
· Produces driver manifests.
· Coordinates and schedules deliveries and backhauls, documents logs.
· Arranges for pick-ups and pick-up appointments, as necessary.
· Supervises drivers in all aspects of transportation and compliance with company policy and procedures, rules and regulations, DOT and OSHA. This may include, but is not limited to, conducting lift truck certification training and refresher training, ensuring that daily pallet jack equipment inspections are conducted.
· Maintains and processes current vehicle list with current registration and Federal inspection records.
· Reports, coordinates repairs and schedules maintenance with all equipment for all transportation department.
· Creates and implements appropriate systems for proper warehouse storage and protection of product. Collaborates with staff on what donated products are to be directed to the proper storage and picking areas.
Position Qualifications:
· One (1) to three (3) years of experience in routing, distribution and/or transportation management
· At least three (3) years of supervisory experience, preferably in transportation, is required
· Proficient verbal, written and interpersonal skills
· One (1) year minimum experience in forklift operation and other material-handling equipment
· Knowledge of warehouse transportation operations is required. Food retail/wholesale is strongly preferred
· Self-starter; flexible; available for extended work hours as necessary for business operations, including Saturday, as needed. Preferred schedule: 6:00am-2:30pm
· Good analytical ability in order to gather and interpret information and develop, recommend, and implement solutions
· Working knowledge of DOT regulations and fleet maintenance is strongly preferred
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook 365 and Excel
