GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Sales Manager is responsible for overall business activities associated with their specific business unit (customer and/or market). The Sales Manager may be responsible for the participation in select business unit meetings. As a member of these teams, he/she is challenged to manage the current business situation as well as assisting in setting the future direction of the business.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree required. Engineering or Business degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 6 plus years of experience working directly with OE accounts.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ensure the sales and engineering focus on new business development is maintained throughout the organization.
- Develop purchasing and key customer relationships at assigned accounts. Extend the Tenneco network. Secure new business opportunities through these relationships.
- Communicate program capacity requirements and changes to the plant and entire organization.
- Manage the Tenneco quote process including FMNet for all new business opportunities generated for assigned account(s).
- Participate with the team to assure compliance to the Gate process.
- Be responsible for, and manage, all Account Management activity for assigned accounts including web portal, purchase order, capacity and quote maintenance.
- Prepare all commercial documents and business case presentations for management approval and customer presentations/submissions.
- Work cooperatively with applications and product engineering, purchasing, operations, cost estimating, marketing, and administration group to win new business and advance Tenneco as a strategic partner at assigned accounts.
- Provide market intelligence for assigned accounts. Maintain and provide customer product development schedule and timeline.
- Comprehend market price and be able to develop market price models for Tenneco S&G product lines
- Program costing – work closely with plant controlling team to ensure Tenneco costing is developed correctly and program profitability targets are met.
- Establish the Sealing group as a leader in marketable product offerings.
- Participate in S&G business planning and strategy process.
- Report to Director of Sales regularly on YTD performance to business plan. Implement actions within assigned customers to achieve business plan.
- Reinforce the commitment to and participation in the Tenneco PT philosophy.
- Apply the philosophy of Continuous Improvement within daily activity internally and with assigned customers.
- Identify the group’s resources to meet the demands of the marketplace and communicate to Director of Sales.
- Travel as required to support the customer and to support/develop new opportunities.
- Develop/monitor annual forecasts to meet the business plan goals and the requirement of the market.
- Incorporate the quality process into the everyday activities.
- Identification and pursuit of new business opportunities.
- Support Tenneco plants and departments to resolve customer issues.
- Assist in higher-level program resolutions.
- Support Tenneco Core Values.
- Responsible to complete the established required skills training.
- Capable of providing support as requested by supervisor.

Salary : $87,000 - $110,000
