60-hour Activities Certification OR Therapeutic Recreation Degree REQUIRED
Primary functions:
Activities Certification required. High school diploma or equivalent and one-two years of health care experience with elderly is preferred. Knowledge of the principles, practice standards, and techniques of the department. Skilled in establishing, and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, co-workers, medical staff, and the public. Skilled in identifying, and recommending problem resolution. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
Preferred education:
Degree in recreational activities
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to walk , stand for long durations of time with no breaks, sitting, lifting of up to 25 pounds, bending, stretching, pushing of residents in wheel chairs, have good hearing and vision. Additionally must have excellent communication skills and writing abilities. The activities staff member must have a wide degree of creativity and latitude.

Primary functions:
- To develop comprehensive activities that engage, encourage and enhance the resident’s quality of life through social interaction with other residents of the facility.
- Plan, design and establish programs that will foster individualization, social independence, and social well-being.
- Conducts activity programs as planned to meet the functional levels, needs and interests of each patient as assigned by manager.
- Completes appropriate records indicating patient’s attendance and participation in individual and group activities in an accurate and timely manner.
- Completes assessments, MDS, care plans and gathers information to design activities that are multi-faceted, meet patients’ functional levels, and reflect needs and interests of each patient as assigned by supervisor.
- Assists with escorting patients to and from activities.
- Assists in the development of the Activity calendars.
- Completes required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and state and/or federal regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
