This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Part-Time Traffic Operator for our Newark, NJ office.
The EWR-AOC/PNEPAMT-POC Traffic Operator will interact/coordinate with Port Authority staff, such as, Operations staff, Technicians, Engineers, and/or law enforcement during work assignments. The Traffic Operator will manage multiple assignments and interact with Port Authority and non-Port Authority staff while maintaining good working relationships at all times. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Your Impact
- Monitoring traffic mitigation measures put in place at various airport terminals
- Observing recurrent locations of congestion and traffic mitigation measures
- Coordinate/communicate with PAPD and Landside Operations.
- Complete SaabSafe Module and maintaining necessary logs of information
- Coordinating with other transportation agencies such as, NJ Turnpike, NJ Transit, NJ State Police, NJDOT, TRANSCOM, State and local police, fire/rescue, and media during day-to-day operations as well as during major transportation incidents, special events, emergencies, and construction projects.
- Ensuring that proper contacts are made, and protocols are followed during incidents. Overseeing shift continuity, assessments, and briefings between shift personnel.
- Evaluating impacts of roadwork information and identifying potential conflicts.
- Keeping Project/Operations Manager abreast of all matters affecting the EWR-AOC/PNEPAMT-POC on a daily basis.
- Overseeing shift continuity, assessments, and briefings between shift pe
personnel. - Attending external meetings on behalf of EWR-AOC/PNEPAMT-POC.
- Monitoring construction delays, traffic patterns and identifying issues as they relate to safety
and mobility. - Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- High-school diploma or GED
- The Traffic Operator must have a background in traffic operations, including prior traffic operations/transportation related field experience.
- past coordination with operations staff, technicians, engineers, and/or law enforcement on work assignments.
- Must know how to read a map and be familiar with major highways in the NY/NJ region.
- Must be familiar with Port Authority Facilities (Airports and Marine Terminals a plus) and locate them on a map as well know how these facilities connect with other roadways.
- Must be a good listener and able to take a message and communicate it accurately and succinctly. Having a team-oriented attitude and able to establish a good report with other departments and agencies to achieve common initiatives.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, or two (2) years of college and one (1) year of experience in traffic operations/ traffic management field, or High-school diploma and two (2) years of experience in traffic operations/ traffic management field.
