Requirements and Responsibilities
Actuarial Services Manager manages actuarial activities and staff to deliver pricing, reserving, and risk analyses that support business and regulatory objectives. Directs the development and maintenance of actuarial models, assumptions, and methodologies across assigned lines of business. Being an Actuarial Services Manager reviews and approves actuarial analyses, rate filings, and reserve estimates. Leads the professional development, performance management, and training of actuarial staff. Additionally, Actuarial Services Manager partners with underwriting, finance, and product leadership to inform strategy and pricing decisions. Ensures actuarial work complies with regulatory standards and best practices. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA). May require Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA). Typically reports to a director. The Actuarial Services Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Actuarial Services Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.
