Requirements and Responsibilities

Admitting Clerk registers and admits patients to hospital. Interviews patients to obtain required medical and financial information and completes registration forms. Being an Admitting Clerk verifies patient insurance and ensures registration forms are properly signed. May be expected to perform other admissions related clerical work. Additionally, Admitting Clerk typically requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to supervisor and/or manager. The Admitting Clerk possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. May require 0-1 year of general work experience.
