Requirements and Responsibilities

Admitting Supervisor supervises staff responsible for inpatient/outpatient admissions process including pre-admission, registration, bed assignments, financial arrangements, and cashier. Oversees the verification of insurance benefits coverage to ensure compliance with hospital policy, third party payers, and applicable regulations. Being an Admitting Supervisor coordinates with medical and nursing staff to ensure appropriate placement of patients. Manages staff work schedule to ensure adequate coverage. Additionally, Admitting Supervisor coordinates training and staff development activities. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Admitting Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision.
