Requirements and Responsibilities

Backend Development Supervisor leads and supports a team of Backend Developers. Develops, builds, and maintains scalable back-end solutions for server applications. Being a Backend Development Supervisor coordinates and monitors projects to ensure best practices and delegates resources to ensure timely completion. Implements and tests web services and API's utilizing standard frameworks and source control tools to ensure product functionality, speed, and security. Additionally, Backend Development Supervisor collaborates with frontend developers, product managers, and designers to deliver server-side applications and integrate user-facing elements. Knows commonly used languages, development tools, and frameworks. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Backend Development Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Backend Development Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.
