Requirements and Responsibilities

Clinical Informatics Senior Manager manages the implementation, maintenance, and analysis of data from clinical informatics systems. Oversees the implementation of electronic health record (EHR) systems, bed management systems, computerized physician order entry systems, or any other relevant health information systems. Being a Clinical Informatics Senior Manager analyzes and reviews data produced by these systems to identify trends and areas for improvement and to ensure systems are functioning properly. Evaluates and establishes initiatives to improve systems or integrate new systems. Additionally, Clinical Informatics Senior Manager may provide staff training on new or updated systems. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Clinical Informatics Senior Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Clinical Informatics Senior Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
