Requirements and Responsibilities

Commodity Buyer II purchases commodities for use in manufacturing and other business applications. Monitors and analyzes the commodities market and overall economic conditions to ensure that commodities are purchased at competitive prices. Being a Commodity Buyer II participates in contract negotiations and ensures that orders include correct quantities and comply with quality standards. Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Additionally, Commodity Buyer II requires technical and purchasing expertise on assigned commodities. Typically reports to a manager. To be a Commodity Buyer II typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.
