Composite Bonding Technician IV bonds various materials, including composites and laminates, together to create parts, prototypes, or products. Safely handles and applies liquid or solid bonding agents and sets and controls heat, pressure, and time according to specifications for the material and binding agent being used. Being a Composite Bonding Technician IV adheres to instructions, documentation, and engineering models and drawings to prepare equipment and materials needed for fabrication. Operates measuring tools, cutting tools, and various other equipment to bind, laminate, cut, vacuum-bag, cure, smooth, and perform other operations on composite material. Additionally, Composite Bonding Technician IV performs testing to determine that composites are created to their specifications. Uses proper PPE and safety equipment and procedures when handling chemicals. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Composite Bonding Technician IV independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors. Has gained full proficiency in a broad range of activities related to the job. To be a Composite Bonding Technician IV typically requires 5-7 years of related experience.
