Requirements and Responsibilities

Database Engineering Manager manages the planning, designing, and developing of an organization's databases. Leads and manages a team of database engineers. Being a Database Engineering Manager implements procedures to ensure the performance, scalability, and security of databases. Monitors and optimizes database performance to ensure efficient data retrieval and processing. Additionally, Database Engineering Manager evaluates existing database design to determine necessary updates. Collaborates with stakeholders to determine future organizational needs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Database Engineering Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Database Engineering Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes.
