Requirements and Responsibilities

Dietitian Director directs and oversees all aspects of an organization's nutrition guidelines and initiatives. Develops policies and procedures to ensure all menus comply with general dietetic standards. Being a Dietitian Director administers and advises food service operations to ensure menus comply with prescribed nutritional plans. Monitors and ensures proper nutrition education is provided. Additionally, Dietitian Director requires a bachelor's degree. May Require Registered Dietitian (RD) or Certified Dietary Manager (CDM). Typically reports to senior management. The Dietitian Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Dietitian Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
