Requirements and Responsibilities
Energy Distribution Systems Supervisor supervises the daily operations, maintenance, and repair activities for electric and gas distribution systems to support system reliability and safety. Coordinates and schedules crews for construction, preventive maintenance, and corrective repair work on distribution infrastructure. Being an Energy Distribution Systems Supervisor reviews field work to verify quality, accuracy, and compliance with construction standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. Ensures crews follow safety rules, switching and clearance procedures, and proper work methods on energized and de-energized systems. Additionally, Energy Distribution Systems Supervisor coordinates with operations, engineering, and outside contractors to complete planned work and restore service during outages. Trains, mentors, and evaluates field staff and provides guidance on complex or hazardous tasks. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require NERC System Operator Certification. Typically reports to a manager. The Energy Distribution Systems Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be an Energy Distribution Systems Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.
