Facilities Design Engineer II plans and implements the design of plants, offices, and production lines to optimally utilize available space and improve production efficiency. Understands business needs and work processes to design workspaces that maximize productivity and drive efficiency. Being a Facilities Design Engineer II prepares floor plans, blueprints, and other schematics to communicate the design and functionality of potential layouts. Estimates costs and benefits related to improving layout design, including equipment, materials, time, and labor. Additionally, Facilities Design Engineer II tracks and monitors productivity metrics to evaluate and quantify the effects of facility design changes, measure return on investment, and recommend improvements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Facilities Design Engineer II occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. To be a Facilities Design Engineer II typically requires 2-4 years of related experience.
