Requirements and Responsibilities
Facilities Engineering Director directs the planning, design, and maintenance of facility infrastructure and equipment to meet the needs of an organization. Develops preventative and corrective maintenance programs and capital improvement projects. Being a Facilities Engineering Director implements inspection and risk assessment processes to identify and mitigate hazards. Provides regulatory oversight to ensure audit documentation and reporting are accurate and compliant. Additionally, Facilities Engineering Director manages contractors, architects, and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Facilities Engineering Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Facilities Engineering Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
