Facilities Engineering Manager manages the planning, design, and maintenance of facility infrastructure and equipment to meet the needs of an organization. Utilizes CAD software and engineering principles to design and communicate specifications for facility modifications, new development, or equipment. Being a Facilities Engineering Manager implements preventative and corrective maintenance programs and capital improvement projects. Ensures routine inspections and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards and maintains records for audits and regulatory reporting. Additionally, Facilities Engineering Manager coordinates with contractors, architects, and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion. Reviews facility plans and cost projections to provide technical oversight and identify areas to implement efficiencies and cost-savings. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Facilities Engineering Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Facilities Engineering Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required.
