Requirements and Responsibilities
Infection Control Manager manages the infection control department of a facility. Implements infection control policies, procedures, and protocols designed to reduce or eliminate outbreaks. Being an Infection Control Manager conducts thorough investigations to determine the source and cause of outbreaks and implements appropriate control measures. Assesses compliance with established standards and identifies areas for improvement. Additionally, Infection Control Manager provides training to staff on infection control principles and best practices. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require Certification in Infection Control (CIC). Typically reports to a director. The Infection Control Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an Infection Control Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
