Requirements and Responsibilities
Lactation Consultant is responsible for identifying and correcting lactation problems. May plan and lead breastfeeding classes for expecting mothers. Being a Lactation Consultant advises physicians and healthcare providers on lactation problems experienced by patients. Requires an associate degree and is certified as a registered nurse. Additionally, Lactation Consultant typically reports to a supervisor and/or manager. Lactation Consultant's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement.
