Requirements and Responsibilities
Managed Care Pharmacy Supervisor is responsible for managing medication utilization, formulary management, and ensuring cost-effective services for a network of managed care pharmacies. Monitors and analyzes pharmacy utilization trends and identifies opportunities for cost savings and improved patient outcomes. Being a Managed Care Pharmacy Supervisor collaborates with healthcare stakeholders to implement and improve pharmacy benefit programs. May also be responsible for designing reimbursement processes and procedures. Additionally, Managed Care Pharmacy Supervisor requires a doctorate degree in pharmacy. May require a doctorate degree in pharmacy. May require applicable license and/or certification. Typically reports to a manager. The Managed Care Pharmacy Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Managed Care Pharmacy Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.
