Medical Management Director
Medical Management Director directs and oversees an organization's medical management programs, which may include case management, utilization review, quality management, and/or community health education programs. Collects and analyzes data on utilization, outcomes, costs, and quality to determine trends and identify problem areas. Being a Medical Management Director develops and implements clinical guidelines for care designed to improve outcomes while managing costs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Medical Management Director may require Registered Nurse (RN). Typically reports to senior management. The Medical Management Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Medical Management Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
