Requirements and Responsibilities
Metrology Engineer IV develops and maintains metrology programs and calibration systems to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of measurement instruments, equipment, and testing procedures. Performs calibration, qualification, and validation testing activities in accordance with regulatory standards and internal procedures. Being a Metrology Engineer IV evaluates measurement systems, analyzes calibration data, and investigates deviations or out-of-tolerance conditions to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Develops calibration schedules, standard operating procedures, and documentation to support compliance with GMP, FDA, ISO, and other applicable regulatory requirements. Additionally, Metrology Engineer IV collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to support equipment lifecycle management and continuous improvement initiatives. Supports internal audits, regulatory inspections, and vendor management activities related to metrology and calibration processes. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Metrology Engineer IV work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group. A specialist on complex technical and business matters. To be a Metrology Engineer IV typically requires 7+ years of related experience.
