Requirements and Responsibilities

Model Maker II designs and builds scale models of industrial products, parts or components, and manufacturing equipment. Utilizes various machinery and materials to create prototypes that allow stakeholders to visualize, test, and refine designs before production. Being a Model Maker II analyses requirements, specifications, and engineering designs to determine the best materials and methods to fabricate models. Collaborates with stakeholders to incorporate revisions or modifications to the appearance and performance of prototypes. Additionally, Model Maker II creates and maintains documentation detailing the dimensions, materials, equipment, and processes used. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Model Maker II works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Model Maker II typically requires 1-3 years of related experience.
