Network Engineering Supervisor supervises the daily network engineering activities required to implement all aspects of network systems that will meet an organization's requirements for performance, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Ensures engineering work meets all network requirements and standards for hardware, software, and services to provide optimal solutions and meet the capacity requirement for the organization. Being a Network Engineering Supervisor provides data and coordination for architecture design, feasibility, cost studies, and projects. Deploys monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes in demand. Additionally, Network Engineering Supervisor oversees projects and collaborates with vendors and providers to provide additional resources to support networks. Supports engineers with training and knowledge sharing to keep abreast with the latest technologies and best practices. May be certified or has deep knowledge of vendor-specific products. Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Network Engineering Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Network Engineering Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.
