Requirements and Responsibilities

Physician - Hematology/Oncology examines and diagnoses disorders and diseases of the blood, bone marrow, vascular, and immune system. Recommends and orders tests to determine extent of illness or help diagnose condition. Being a Physician - Hematology/Oncology requests necessary tests, follow-up visits, and refers patients to specialists, as necessary. Consults with patients to determine the appropriate course of treatment. Additionally, Physician - Hematology/Oncology requires a MD. Requires State License to Practice. Typically reports to a medical director. Physician - Hematology/Oncology's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement.
