Requirements and Responsibilities
Power Line Maintenance Senior Supervisor supervises the daily installation, maintenance, and inspection of power lines and related distribution equipment to support system reliability and safety. Coordinates and schedules line crews for construction, repair, and preventive maintenance work on overhead and underground facilities. Being a Power Line Maintenance Senior Supervisor reviews field work to verify quality, accuracy, and compliance with construction standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. Ensures crews follow safety rules, switching and clearance procedures, and proper work methods while operating on energized and de-energized lines. Additionally, Power Line Maintenance Senior Supervisor coordinates with system operations, engineering, and outside contractors to complete planned work and restore service during outages. Trains, mentors, and evaluates linemen and provides guidance on complex or hazardous field tasks. May require an associate degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Power Line Maintenance Senior Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Power Line Maintenance Senior Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.
