Power System Dispatch Senior Supervisor supervises power system dispatching activities to ensure the reliable and safe operation of the transmission and distribution network. Oversees generation, transmission switching, and load-balancing operations in accordance with established procedures and reliability standards. Being a Power System Dispatch Senior Supervisor monitors system conditions and responds to abnormal conditions, contingencies, and emergencies. Coordinates planned and unplanned outages with field personnel, generation operators, and neighboring systems. Additionally, Power System Dispatch Senior Supervisor ensures dispatch operations comply with NERC reliability standards and applicable regulatory requirements. Trains, coaches, and evaluates dispatch staff and maintains accurate operating logs and documentation. Typically requires an associate degree. May require NERC System Operator Certification. Typically reports to a manager. The Power System Dispatch Senior Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department.
