Requirements and Responsibilities

Purchasing Supervisor supervises the daily activities of the purchasing function. Maintains relationship with vendors or suppliers and negotiates contracts for more complex purchase order. Being a Purchasing Supervisor evaluates and analyzes purchasing trend and price trend to identify forecasting demand and minimize purchasing costs. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Additionally, Purchasing Supervisor typically reports to a manager. The Purchasing Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision.
