Refinery Operator II controls equipment systems that process natural gas or petroleum into specified products. Responsibilities include monitoring pressure and flow and reading gauges and adjusting valves as needed. Being a Refinery Operator II may be responsible for identifying and correcting problems in the refinery process. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Refinery Operator II may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty in the field. May lead or direct the work of others. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager. To be a Refinery Operator II typically requires 3-5 years of related experience. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function.
