Refrigeration Mechanic I installs, maintains, and repairs refrigeration systems and related equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation. Diagnoses and troubleshoots mechanical and electrical issues in commercial, industrial, or residential refrigeration units using testing tools and technical schematics. Being a Refrigeration Mechanic I performs preventive maintenance tasks, including cleaning, component replacement, refrigerant checks, and system calibration. Documents and records service activities. Additionally, Refrigeration Mechanic I ensures compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and proper handling of refrigerants in accordance with applicable codes. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires HVAC/R and EPA Section 608 Certification (CFC). Typically reports to a supervisor. The Refrigeration Mechanic I works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. May require 0-1 year of general work experience.
