SCADA Technician is responsible for installing, wiring, and maintaining Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) hardware, like RTUs (remote terminal units), PLCs, sensors, and transmitters. Troubleshoots communication failures, calibrates instruments, responds to alarms, performs repairs on-site, and conducts routine preventive maintenance. Being a SCADA Technician often works on-site in industrial plants, water facilities, or energy fields to respond to immediate breakdowns. Typically requires an associate degree in in a technical field. Additionally, SCADA Technician typically reports to a supervisor. The SCADA Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a SCADA Technician typically requires 1-3 years of related experience.
