Requirements and Responsibilities

Sign Language Interpreter enables communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals and hearing individuals through real-time interpretation. Translates in a variety of settings. Being a Sign Language Interpreter may require research in vocabulary related to specialty. Requires an associate degree. Additionally, Sign Language Interpreter may require RID certification. Typically reports to a manager. The Sign Language Interpreter occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. To be a Sign Language Interpreter typically requires 2-4 years of related experience.
